The All Progressives Congress, (APC) has demanded full investigation into the violent protest in Jega area of Kebbi State at the weekend.
The party at press conference addressed by its publicity secretary, Isah Assalafi also called on security agencies to act decisively, investigate thoroughly and prosecute every person found responsible for the protest saying "Nobody should be shielded by political affiliation , position or influence".
It called on other political parties in the state and their leaders to take responsibility for the conduct of their supporters and commit themselves to peaceful democratic engagement.
The party's publicity secretary said the APC would continue to support every lawful effort to protect lives, secure communities and preserve democratic participation in the state. "Jega must remain peaceful,Kebbi must remain peaceful, democracy must prevail over violence and the law must prevail over impunity", he said.
It would be recalled that protesting youths in Jega area of Kebbi State at the weekend destroyed the posters of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and those of Governor Nasir Idris
The protesters, mostly youths were returning from a football match on Saturday when they started shouting 'bamaso', (we don't want) and started destroying the APC posters.
The youths, while moving along the major roads in the town were stoning and destroying APC posters and billboards that were mounted in strategic areas of the town. They also touched and broke windscreens of many vehicles belonging to a car dealer, JAYEWA MOTORS during the protest.
No immediate reasons have been established for their action. They were however, dispersed by security agents despatched to restore normalcy in the town.
