Fuji Music : Don’t Drag Me Into Seniority Crisis, Alh. Abass Akande Obesere Warns Younger Colleagues

October 21, 2024
Fuji Music : Don’t Drag Me Into Seniority Crisis, Alh. Abass Akande Obesere Warns Younger Colleagues

Legendary Fuji maestro Alh. Abass Akande Obesere Pk1st, Agbaakin Abobagunwa of Yoruba land has warned  colleagues currently warring over seniority ranks to leave him out of such messy fight.

The Nigerian Fuji extraction of the Entertainment industry has been thrown into a war of words and attrition among the Fuji stars who included Alh. Wasiu Alabi Pasuma Wonder, Taiye Currency among others.

It all began few weeks ago when Taiye currency was on stage and made general remarks about how many of those who are now stars had had role models who tutored them into stardom. He particularly pointed out that Pasuma was tutored by Obesere as a Fuji musician before he shot into limelight just as Sefiu Alao was tutored by Alh. Shina Akanni among others . Currency was said to have said that because he feels Pasuma is now supporting Malaika who has always been his own rival.

However , the mention of Pasuma being tutored by Obesere has sparkled negative reactions from many of Pasuma’s fans who have been attacking currency  on the social media and denying that Obesere was role model to Pasuma.

Obesere’s fans have also replied Pasuma’s fans by posting on the social media several evidences to prove that Oberese was indeed Pasuma’s role model when he began his rise to stardom in the early 1990s. They posted an instance of Pasuma’s confessions when he said Obesere launched his first album that shot him into limelight in 1993 at the LSDP Estate in Isolo, Lagos. They also included that Pasuma used to follow  Obesere during the legendary Fuji star’s performances on stage at stadium hotel in suruelre  and Obesere would give him the microphone to also sing as a way of encouraging him as a much younger and up coming Fuji musician then.

In addition, Obesere had indeed been a role model to many of the younger Fuji musicians “ who now become over bloated with ego now and forget their humble beginnings just because they now have fame and money”!.

All lovers of the Fuji music industry know the truth. Agbaakin Abobagunwa of Yoruba land Alh. Abass Akande Obesere is a legend. He is a role model to all of them, my Principal cannot be fighting for superiority. He is a legend after the other legendary stars such as Alh. Kolington Ayinla aka Kebe Kwara and the late legendary Fuji creator and originator, Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Barrister (SAB) may Almighty Allah SWT be pleased with him. So, I urge all these younger stars to leave Obesere out of this unnecessary seniority war. He is made already and doesn’t need anyone of them to endorse him or  to remain the legendary Fuji star that he is.

Pro. Samuel Akinbodunse Reveals the Physical, spiritual Steps to Experiencing Men's Financial Health

Global prophet and founder of Freedom For All Nations Outreach, Prophet Samuel Akinbodunse has enjoined men to deal with financial issues both spiritually and physically.

He made this remark during the Men's Conference 2024 at the ministry's headquaters in South Africa with the theme, Men's Financial health. Prophet Akinbodunse also dwelled on God's plan for mankind financially during the conference which is arguably both impactful and insightful.

According to him, it's God's will for us to prosper with reference from Jer 29:11. He also revealed that to experience financial health, we need to deal with finance both spiritually and physically.

"You can study finance in school and still be poor. However, there are principles involved. First, put your spiritual life together. Secondly, organize and prioritize your physical life. For you to prosper, learn to acknowledge and honour God with your substance."

He stated further that by involving God, we avoid waste and prevent a lot of mess. The law of God is the remedy for escape. There is no way to operate or experience open doors without obeying God's law.

He also cautioned against borrowing unless well established. Aside that, he kicked against borrowing money to pay debts. He advised that contentment is key to having financial health.

Furthermore, he stated that unhealthy competition stifled men's financial health. He also warned against using resources to satisfy wants, rather learn to invest the resources. Drawing reference from the parable of the sowers, he said the essence of God's gift of financial blessings to men is to invest it and not to squander it. He also reiterated his earlier prophetic warning that people should save against a global calamity coming in 2030.

Meanwhile, one of the speakers, Mr Yusuf Nsamba enlightened participants on understanding financial terms, analyzing financial statements, developing budgeting skills, manage cash flow effectively, plan for long term sustainability, enhance regulation skills and monitor finances to avoid pitfalls. He also admonished everyone to plan, budget and abstain from wasteful spendings.

Another speaker, Pastor Tshepo Komape also highlighted spiritual aspect of finance and engaging the blood of Jesus to deal with spiritual factors militating against our financial breakthroughs.

Finally, Pastor Emmanuel Adeniji during during his own remarks  appreciated the men for the support and unity in putting up such a glorious event and also commended the women for backing with programme both morally and financially.

The HOD of the men fellowship, Mr Pule Mohlamunyane  also appreciated the set man of the ministry and his Delectable wife, Prophet Samuel Akinbodunse and prophetess Eunice Akinbodunse. He commended the speakers and the panelists for such an engaging enlightenment.

Lawyer Replies Agbakoba on EFCC's legal status* *...your position based on legal sophistry than substance

Lawyer Replies Agbakoba on EFCC's legal status* *...your position based on legal sophistry than substance

A lawyer and former member of the House of Representatives, Kayode Oladele, has faulted the position of the former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Dr. Olisa Agbakoba (SAN) on the legal status of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), describing it as “legal sophistry “

Oladele's response was a rejoinder to an interview granted by Agbakoba wherein he said EFCC lacked the powers to interfere in state affairs, and a  fresh letter written by Agbakoba to the Joint National Assembly Constitution Review Committee.

The renewed onslaught against the EFCC is not unconnected with its bold  and reinvigorated move, especially in the last one year, to investigate and prosecute some highly placed politically exposed persons like the former Governor of Kogi State, Mr. Yahaya Bello and others. Kogi State actually initiated the pending case at the Supreme Court before being joined by about 15 other states.

Oladele maintained that: "It is pertinent to state that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is a Nigerian law enforcement agency established to investigate and prosecute economic and financial crimes, such as advance fee fraud, money laundering and misapplication and misappropriation of public funds,

"With due respect, Mr. Agbakoba SAN’s position is more of legal sophistry rather than legal substance. His position does not represent the correct position of the law as it runs contrary to the long-settled position of the law as handed down by the superior courts of law including the Apex Court in Nigeria. It is settled law that Nigeria operates a co-operative federalism as opposed to dualist federalism and under co-operative federalism as practiced in Nigeria, some agencies are common agencies for both the Federal and State Government," he said.

Oladele posited further that the view expressed by Agbakoba does not have any legal backing "and therefore unsupportable in law and practice".

He went on further to state that, "Indeed, the EFCC is a common agency for both the Federal and State Economic and Financial Crimes, and as such, it qualifies as 'any other authority' to institute criminal proceedings under section 174(1)(b) and section 211(1)(b) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

"Again, these statutory provisions have been given judicial considerations by the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal, in line with my position and contrary to Mr. Agbakoba’s views or submissions on this issue.

"EFCC is expressly conferred with powers under sections 6(m), 9(2) and 13(2) of EFCC (Est.) Act to initiate criminal proceedings in any court in Nigeria for any offence bordering on economic and financial crimes, even under the Penal Code. The EFCC cannot, therefore, be faulted for initiating the instant charge in the name of “Federal Republic of Nigeria”. This is because the Federal Government of Nigeria is not synonymous with the Federation of Nigeria, or the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Chief Allen Ifechukwu Onyeama: A Pillar in Nigeria’s Aviation Industry, Undeserving of Victimization

Chief Allen Ifechukwu Onyeama: A Pillar in Nigeria’s Aviation Industry, Undeserving of Victimization

Chief Allen Ifechukwu Onyeama, the Chairman of AirPeace, stands as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished and hardworking entrepreneurs. His airline, Air Peace, has not only redefined the aviation landscape but has also provided immense relief to millions of Nigerians. With relentless determination and a vision to democratize air travel, Onyeama has grown AirPeace into a dominant force, one that competes directly with global airlines. Yet, despite his monumental contributions to Nigeria's aviation sector, he is repeatedly subjected to scrutiny, victimization, and disparagement from foreign authorities and Western media. This ongoing attack on Onyeama is not just an attack on an individual but a blatant affront to the Nigerian aviation sector, and it calls for urgent action from all stakeholders.

At a time when the cost of air travel was skyrocketing, seemingly without bounds, it was AirPeace that stepped in to stabilize the market. Nigerians had been at the mercy of astronomical airfares, as foreign carriers monopolized major routes. The ripple effect was devastating, limiting the capacity of the average citizen to fly and stifling the growth of the nation’s aviation industry. However, AirPeace, under the astute leadership of Chief Onyeama, disrupted this narrative. By offering competitive pricing and expanding its domestic, regional and international reach, AirPeace provided Nigerians with an affordable and reliable alternative. The significance of this cannot be overstated—AirPeace became a symbol of healthy competition, lifting the industry and curbing exploitative practices by foreign carriers.

The success of AirPeace’s international routes, including the historic commencement of flights to London Gatwick, is a testament to its pivotal role in strengthening Nigeria's bilateral air service agreements (BASA). The landmark push by Nigeria's Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, to secure favorable BASA routes would not have had the same impact without the involvement of AirPeace. The airline’s presence on international routes—especially with major destinations like London—challenged long-standing monopolies and helped reduce fares that had been skyrocketing. This development not only empowered the Nigerian consumer but also marked a significant victory for local airlines in a fiercely competitive global market.

Onyeama’s AirPeace is paving the way for other Nigerian airlines to capitalize on more BASA routes, unlocking a new era of international connectivity and competition. His contribution has been nothing short of revolutionary, a fact that should be celebrated rather than subjected to unwarranted attacks.

The repeated victimization of Chief Onyeama by U.S. authorities and the Western press appears increasingly orchestrated, raising suspicions that it is part of a larger agenda to destabilize Nigeria's aviation sector. It is no coincidence that as AirPeace rises and disrupts the status quo, Onyeama faces intensified scrutiny. This situation should raise alarms for all Nigerians, especially those within the aviation industry.

This is not just Onyeama's fight—it is a fight for the survival and autonomy of Nigeria's aviation sector. At a time when the nation is striving to assert its place on the global stage, the attack on AirPeace, the closest entity Nigeria has to a national flag carrier, is an attack on the industry’s collective future. Let no one be mistaken—Chief Allen Onyeama's plight is a battle for the soul of Nigerian aviation, and the fallout will affect not just AirPeace but hundreds of its employees and the broader economy.

If the authorities, regulators, and stakeholders within the aviation sector fail to rally around Onyeama now, it will be a monumental loss for the country. It is a moment that demands unity, not division. The future of Nigerian aviation depends on the survival of its biggest players, and Chief Onyeama, as the Vice President of the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), embodies the aspirations and ambitions of countless Nigerians. His downfall would be a blow not only to AirPeace but to every stakeholder who believes in the growth and competitiveness of the Nigerian aviation sector.

If I were a member of the AON, I would not sit idly while one of our most illustrious members faces such unfair persecution. The fact that Onyeama has built one of the largest employers in Nigeria’s aviation industry speaks volumes about his dedication, vision, and capability. Allowing him to fall victim to external forces is tantamount to delivering a slap to the entire aviation community.

Defending Our Own: A Matter of National Pride

We must ask ourselves: if we do not defend our own, who will? Chief Allen Onyeama’s contributions to Nigeria’s aviation industry should inspire pride, not condemnation. AirPeace is the pride of Nigeria’s aviation sector, representing our collective ambition to compete on the global stage. The airline is a symbol of our capacity to build and sustain world-class businesses that challenge global giants, providing critical services at home and abroad.

This is the time for the Nigerian government, aviation regulators, and all industry stakeholders to stand together. We must reject any agenda—whether foreign or domestic—that seeks to tarnish the achievements of one of our finest entrepreneurs. The aviation roadmap for Nigeria, painstakingly dreamt by the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN and being charted by Chief Onyeama and others, must not be derailed by baseless accusations and targeted victimization.

The Time for Action Is Now

Chief Allen Onyeama and AirPeace represent the future of Nigeria's aviation industry. His plight is not just his own but a call to action for all Nigerians. The stakes have never been higher, and this is a turning point in the history of Nigerian aviation. If we do not act now, we risk allowing foreign interests to dismantle the progress we have worked so hard to achieve.

The time to eschew bitterness and rally around our own is now. Let us not allow external forces to sow division, or as the saying goes, “smear our white clothes with blood.” We must come together in defense of Chief Onyeama and AirPeace. The survival of the Nigerian aviation industry depends on it.

Chike Stanley, a concerned aviation investor writes from Abuja.

Corruption in Nigeria is a fraternity* - Primate Ayodele ...commends EFCC Chairman, warns of fight back

Corruption in Nigeria is a fraternity* - Primate Ayodele ...commends EFCC Chairman, warns of fight back

The Founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele has described corruption as a fraternity that cannot be fought with only the law, guns and technology.

He said corruption in Nigeria has gone beyond the physical and anyone who wants to fight it must be spiritually inclined and fortified.

Ayodele, who urged the leadership of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to  go spiritual in the fight against corruption, spoke in a statement by his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin.

He said: "The EFCC chairman should be aware that corruption is beyond the physical in Nigeria, it cannot be fought with law suits, guns, and arrest alone, it should also be fought spiritually.

"To fight corruption, you must be highly spiritual; it cannot be fought with technology. If you don't have spiritual capacity, you cannot win the war against corruption."

The cleric also commended the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyode for being passionate about fighting corruption, but warned him against corruption fighting back.

His words: The EFCC chairman has done so well. I commend him for his efforts. He has a pure heart towards corruption but the powers will frustrate him and at the end of the day, corruption will fight back..."

Primate Ayodele noted that there is a lot to do if the war against corruption must be won because the system is greatly polluted.

He said: "The system is polluted and if we want to overcome corruption, we need to pull Nigeria down and start from scratch because it is in every sector.

"There is a lot to do...It is just sad that the EFCC Chairman is doing his best but the power that be is frustrating him."

The Ogbomoso-Oyo-Kwara Express Road Immediate Fix... a death threat to Commuters

The Ogbomoso-Oyo-Kwara Express Road Immediate Fix... a death threat to Commuters

The Ogbomoso-Oyo-Kwara Express Road  Immediate Fix to Address Prolonged Travel Delays that Pose a Deadly Threat to Commuters

Nigerians are demanding President Tinubu to reorient his priorities, expressing frustration over his overseas travels and perceived lack of progress on key issues, with his tenure nearing two years without notable successes

Days-long traffic strandings on the Oyo-Ogbomoso-Kwara road prompted frustrated travelers to record their disastrous bush experiences on phone cameras, as evidenced by a widely-circulated video

It is clear that the Nigerian government has neglected the welfare and security of its citizens, as evidenced by the poor condition of the federal express road connecting Oyo, Ogbomoso, and Kwara

What are the reasons for the extended construction timeline of this federal government express road, the only major and alternative route connecting Oyo State to Kwara?

In reality, this specific abandoned federal express road has degenerated into a hazardous route due to the numerous illicit activities perpetrated by tanker drivers

My thoughts reverted to my early 2024 road journey to Kwara, where an unforeseen three-hour delay occurred, ultimately prolonging the six-hour trip to nine hours, rendering the entire experience undeniably dismal

The Old Oyo road has been an abandoned project and has become a designated dumping ground for trailers, which often remain stationary for weeks on end.

What activities are taking place there? Apparently, nothing productive, merely idle pursuits such as loitering, playing, eating, and engaging in detrimental behavior

Undoubtedly, the Oyo-Ogbomoso old and new roads have deteriorated to perilous conditions, requiring urgent government attention to protect citizens’ lives and ensure road safety.

Governor Usman Ododo and The Desecration of His Oath of Office

October 13, 2024
Governor Usman Ododo and The Desecration of His Oath of Office

By Nelson Ekujumi

On being sworn into office on the 27th of January,  2024 as the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Usman Ododo swore with the Quran to uphold the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

However, since his assumption into office and with subsequent events surrounding his immediate predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, who is presently on the run from the law, have exposed Governor Usman Ododo as a leader who is violating his oath of office  and by extension, pushing to the back burner, the welfare and well-being of the good people of Kogi State.

On several occasions, Governor Usman Ododo has abused his office to assault the constitution in preventing the EFCC from arresting Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the latest being his abracadabra visit to the EFCC office in Abuja, where he was pictured, holding hands with the wanted suspect and thus, misused his constitutional immunity to prevent a wanted Yahaya Bello from being arrested.

Sadly, we also recollect how the EFCC stormed the Kogi State Government lodge in Abuja on two separate occasions in April 2024 and on the 18th of September, 2024 with the intention of arresting Alhaji Yahaya Bello for questioning over corruption allegations while in office as governor after failing to honour EFCC’s  invitations and how Governor Usman Ododo on both occasions prevented the arrest by leveraging on the immunity he enjoys as a sitting Governor.

As we write, former Governor Yahaya Bello has been declared wanted by the EFCC for failing to honour it's summons to explain himself on issues surrounding the misappropriation of billions of Kogi tax payers’ money. In addition, ex Governor Yahaya Bello's wanted person tag has been affirmed by the courts, though he has tried unsuccessfully to have it removed from his neck.

Fortunately, while Alhaji Yahaya Bello is on the run from the law, though temporarily, one is aware that some of his accomplices who partook in the alleged illegal and corrupt siphoning of the people of Kogi state's money are presently standing trial for the crime of corruption and abuse of public office and misuse oftrust. In addition, some of the stolen funds have been traced to where they were lodged by Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

However, in the midst of the commendable efforts of the present EFCC administration to live up to it's core responsibility of fighting corruption as mandated by the constitution, one is shocked and ashamed that the Kogi State House of Assembly which ought to be in the forefront of supporting the anti graft agency in it's war against corruption for the collective interest of the good and long suffering people of Kogi State, is rather waging a parochial, self serving and anti people war against the EFCC for carrying out it's statutory functions.

The Kogi State House of Assembly which ought to put the collective interest of the people of Kogi State as it's topmost priority, which is the reason why they were voted into office, by their conduct so far, have proven to be  enablers of corruption by waging a campaign of blackmail and calumny against the anti graft agency to hands off ex Governor Yahaya Bello, that the Kogi people's money is not missing!

While we are embarrassed by this condemnable and anti-people conduct of the Kogi State House of Assembly in prioritising the interest of an individual far and above the collective good of the people of Kogi State, we are not surprised that they are following in the shameful, despicable and condemnable footsteps of the Delta state house of assembly in 2013 during the former Governor James Ibori saga, when they claimed that Delta state funds is not missing, that EFCC should leave him alone, even in the face of the incontrovertible facts of James Ibori attempt to bribe the then EFCC chairman now National Security Adviser (NSA) Mallam Nuhu Ribadu with the sum of $15 million dollars which was deposited with the CBN as an evidence.

But while the show of shame by the Delta state House of Assembly as an enabler of corruption lasted, former Governor James Ibori was arrested by the authorities in London, prosecuted and jailed for corruption, only for the same shameless Delta state house of assembly to come back to public glare and demand for the return of the seized bribe money of $15 million from ex Governor and convict James Ibori to be returned to the state coffers that they previously mounted a campaign that it was not stolen from.

Tragically, it's sad and unfortunate that in our democracy today from the Kogi State show of shame by Governor Usman Ododo and the Kogi State House of Assembly, we are now witness to the violation and abuse of the constitution by persons who ought to uphold the provisions of the constitution for the collective good that they swore to on oath; but have rather turned violators because of individual, personal, self-serving and corrupt interest, this is condemnable in it's entirety.

But we must commend the EFCC under the present leadership for it's professionalism and diligent conduct in the face of intimidation, provocation, campaign of blackmail and calumny to distract it from performing it's constitutional duty. We urge EFCC to remain focused, law abiding and consistent to ensure that the war against corruption is fought to a logical conclusion with the Yahaya Bello case and others in tandem with the provisions of the law and the collective good of the people of Nigeria.
