The Nigerian Red Cross Society with the Support from International Federation of Red Cross and Crescent Societies distributed cash to 500 household victims of 2024 flood disaster in Gwandu and Augie Local Government Areas of Kebbi State.
The five communities covered are Barama, Luggan Barebari, Tiggi, Bayawa and Bubuche at Augie and Gwandu respectively.
The State Secretary of Red Cross Comrade Ibrahim Ngaski said the aim of the distribution was to alleviate the sufferings and bring succour to families affected by flood disaster.
He said each household was given N77,000 (Cash Voucher Assistant) for each beneficiary to purchase items of their choices and support their family members. Ngaski reiterated the Red Cross commitment to ensuring public awareness on the devastating effect of flood disaster and called on the barkgeneral public to always embrace early warning in order to be safe.
The Representative of the Red Cross from its Headquarters in Abuja, Mr. Kabir Abdullahi called on the beneficiaries to make good use of the assistance given to them. He also shared a free toss line where to lodge complain if there is any.
Some of the beneficiaries commended Red Cross Society and called on others to embark on similar gesture to victims of both natural and human made disasters in the state.
Also officials of Gwandu and Augie LGAs and that of SEMA acknowledged the gesture from the Red Cross and assured Kebbi state Government continued collaborating with.Red Cross Society.
