Kebbi Assembly To Revive State Health Sector

Kebbi State House of Assembly has said it is working towards reviving the health sector of the state.
Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru made this known while receiving the state branch of the Nigerian Medical Association NMA who paid a courtesy call to the House.
The speaker who was represented by the Chairman House Committee on Healthcare Services Hon. Babangida Aminu Gulumbe assured Doctors that the process of reviving Health sector is on top gear as the House will soon enbark on tour to inspect all general hospitals and PHCs with a view to see for it self where and how to start the process.
He described health sector as an important institution that need to be prioritized considering it benefit to the people.
Speaking earlier, the state NMA chairman, Comrade Dr Murtala Muhammad Dandare said they are in the House to familiarize with members and also to highlight the problems facing the Association in the state.
Comrade Murtala lamented the poor conditions and structures of general hospitals in the state.
He noted that the salary disparity between state and federal Doctors is over one hundred thousand naira while calling on state government urgent intervention to address the matter.
The used the medium and called on the state government to look at the possibility of establishing Health Management Board as part of measures towards addressing problems facing Medical Doctors in the state.
Also speaking the Secretary of the Association, Comrade Dr Ismail Lawal called on the state government to issue executive order to equalize salaries of state and federal Doctors as immediate temporary solutions towards minimizing running away of indegent Doctors in search of greener pasture.
Dr Ismail noted that very soon Federal Medical Center Birnin Kebbi and Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital Sokoto UDUTH will unvail their recruitment portal and placed advert for Medical Doctors.
The courtesy call was attended by the immediate past Chairman of the Association, Dr Ashiru Ladan and CMD Sir Yahaiya Memorial Hospital Birnin Kebbi among others.
