No fewer than 1000 female entrepreneurs in Gwandu local government area of Kebbi State benefitted from the N10m disbursed by
Sardauna foundation to boost their businesses.
Founder of Sardaunan Gwandu foundation and Special Adviser to Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu on Power, Alhaji Yusuf Haruna Rashid said the gesture was in continuation of what he started as assistance to girls in the state to boost their petty trades.
He said the 10m disbursed to female petty traders is to promote cap knitting ventures in Gwandu local government area of the state.
Alhaji Haruna said the empowerment program was designed to help young unemployed female entrepreneurs to start their small businesses or expand existing ones.
"The foundation's next disbursement of 10m will be for the promotion of Brown sugar and kilishi production. We will also extend the gesture to Argungu and it's environs. Forms will be handed over to magajin Rafin Kebbi, Alhaji Bello Dantani for distribution to potential beneficiaries", he said.
Speaking at the empowerment event, the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu) enjoined beneficiaries to make judicious use of the funds. Idris who described Alhaji Haruna's philanthropic gesture as commendable and inspiring urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by voting for the APC in coming elections.
Earlier, the District Head of Gwandu, Alhaji Zayyanu Bello Rashid lauded the empowerment initiative of Alhaji Haruna noting that it would help them to achieve economic prosperity.
A beneficiary, Nafisa Abdullahi while commending the foundation for the gesture said the fund would help their economic activities.
