The forty lawmakers of the Lagos State House of Assembly have emphasized to the public, the vital importance of obtaining Permanent Voters' Card (PVC) for eligible voters to exercise their franchise, in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
This was the theme of the 8th Lagos Assembly Annual Constituency Stakeholders' Meeting that was held simultaneously in all the 40 constituencies on Thursday, June 30.
The keynote address was premised on a recent INEC report showing that over 20 million PVCs still remain uncollected across the nation, and out of this huge figure, 1 million are from Lagos State, while many are still clamouring for the extension of the PVC registration deadline.
At the Ikosi-Isheri LCD Secretariat, Ikosi-Ketu, Lagos, where Honourable Olufẹmi Saheed hosted members of his constituency, he charged the attendees not to procrastinate any longer on collecting their PVCs.
After giving the Keynote address, he took time to appreciate the nomination of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the presidential flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and asked the people to use their PVC in ensuring victory for the party at all levels.
"Our appeal to our people is that they should go and get their PVC, because this is the only way they can exercise their franchise.
"Without your PVC, you cannot really demonstrate your support for your chosen candidate, so, we implore you all to endeavor to get your voters card so that we can collectively chose those who will pilot the affairs of our nation going forward" he appealed.
Hon. Femi Saheed who joined the 9th assembly mid-way after the demise of Hon. Jimoh Braimoh, the then Kosofe II representative and the Chairman House Committee of Information and Strategy.
Despite joining the assembly halfway, Hon. Obafemi who has been able to consolidate on the achievement of his predecessor with good representation. Reeling out his achievement in less than two years, the lawmaker's achievements include; renovation of classrooms in the constituency, school shuttle buses for children to and from schools, empowerment programme for the teaming unemployed youths among other things.
The lawmaker used the opportunity to promise his constituents better representation in the next assembly while they keep on giving their support.
Hon. Saheed also used the occasion to thank the monarchs, party leaders and various associations and groups, and the people of Kosofe constituency II for his victory at the last primary election.
