The Nigerian Union of Pensioners (NUP) kebbi State branch has commended Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for the recent payment of N6bn gratuities to its members in the state.

The state secretary of the union, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Zuru, while speaking to journalists in Birnin Kebbi said they were excited and happy over the state government gesture.

He said pensioners in the state had waited for too long for their gratuities but are thankful to Governor Bagudu for looking into their plight and approving the payment of N6bn to members of the union.

He added that "In his wisdom, governor Bagudu released some of N6bn (Six billion naira) for the payment of all gratuities to kebbi state pensioners from 2017 -2020".

The NUP state secretary stated that for now all pensioners in kebbi State have been paid their gratuities. He appeals to the state government to harmonize the monthly pension as some pensioners are still receiving N4500 (four thousand five hundred nairas monthly)

He called on members of NUP in the kebbi state to support the administration of Governor Bagudu in its effort to improve the economic well-being of the people of the state.
