Dino Melaye |
Despite the plea of the Senate Leader, Ahmed
Lawan to members not to dump the ruling party, Senator Dino Melaye, former Governor of Kano, Rabiu Kwankwaso and 13
others have embraced PDP for a prospective political oportunities in 2019.
Their defection caused a stir in the house this
morning as the chants of PDP rented the air while Senate President Bukola
Saraki made the announcement.
Dino Melaye who made his intention known immediately
he came back to the Upper Chamber after his travails with the Police of a
possible defection left All Progressives Congress (APC) with other 13 members
of the party. His co-travelers are; former Governor of Kano, Rabiu Kwankwaso; Barnabas Gemade from Benue
State, Shaaba Lafiaji (Kwara), Senators Suleiman Hunkuyi, Ibrahim Danbaba,
Ubale Shittu, Isah Misau, Suleiman Nazif, Soji Akanbi.
Also, Rafiu Ibrahim (Kwara), Abdulazeez
Nyako(Adamawa), Monsurat Sunmonu (Oyo) and Usman Nafada (Gombe). They have all left the ruling party to Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP).
The Senate President, Bukola Saraki made the
announcement on Tuesday during plenary. After
the announcement by the Senate President, some Senators started chanting “PDP”,
in the chamber.
With this
development, there is high expectation that Dr. Bukola Saraki too might dump
