INEC OFFICIALS |
As people of Ekiti and the
whole country including international communities await the outcome of today’s

from different quarters.

Resident
Electoral Commissioner (REC) in the state, Professor AbdulGaniy Raji, said in a
statement that the results were illegal.
He said, “Our
attention has been drawn to the illegal release of the result of the 2018
governorship election in Ekiti State on the social media. All the floating news
in the social media in respect of the result of the election should be
discountenanced by the public.”
The INEC boss
assured the public that the commission would announce the election results at
the appropriate time.
PDP CANDIDATE ADDRESSING PRESS MEN |
Meanwhile, different people
have expressed their minds on cash inducement that characterized the election earlier
today. A voter, an elderly man in Ado Ekiti said, “It was a disgraceful
scenario as parties shared money openly to induce voters. Members of PDP and
APC are culpable of this act. Both parties have their loyalist shared money to
voters. APC gave out Five thousand naira (N5000) to voters that were willing to
do their bid, while PDP apologist did share N4000 to people. Initially, three
thousand naira each was transferred to civil servant’s accounts to buy their
voters. Such act could hinder the development of a state and a country as a
whole. Mortgaging one future because of such little money is disastrous.” He
posited.
Also, The Peoples
Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned the Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) not to accept or announce any result that does not reflect
the true votes cast at polling centres, as such would be a direct call for
crisis,” the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan
warned earlier today.
FAYOSE CASTING HIS SINGLE VOTE |
Fayose, the out-going
governor of the state and his party, while addressing journalists accused the
All Progressives Congress (APC) of attacking their supporters with the support
of security operatives. He said most of the party chieftains in the state were
arrested.
The Party said,
“We have noted and believe that the whole world has noted too, the harassment,
intimidation and violent attacks on our members and supporters by thugs hired
by the All Progressives Congress (APC) who are being aided by some compromised
security men brought in by the APC to perfect the aggression against our
members at the election.”
In another development; The National
Broadcasting Commission (NBC) has ordered the immediate closure of the Ekiti
Broadcast Service (EBS) for breaching provisions of the Broadcasting Code.
EKITI INEC BOSS |
