| Fayose, wondering what next! |
Having won in eleven
local governments in the just concluded election that was keenly contested by
34 political parties in the state, Fayemi won with a total vote of 197, 459 while
his close opponent, the deputy governor, Professor Kolapo Olusola came second with 178, 114 votes.
Immediately Kayode Fayemi
was declared winner earlier today, the Presidency did send its congratulatory
message and also implored the aggrieved ones to team up and work together for a
better Ekiti state with the winner Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
Meanwhile, the news going round as people in Ekiti state are still basking in the euphoria of the victory
recorded by APC in the state is what would be the fate of the incumbent governor
as he is obviously seen and known as a stiff opposition to Buhari’s government.

‘His survival in the
state after the election bothers his apologist’ a resident in Ado-Ekiti, the
state capital said.
He stressed further
that, “Fayose’s stiff opposition towards APC government and his stand against
President Muhammed Buhari right from 2015 when the retired Army General came
out to contest might give him serious problem. What I see in the coming weeks
after this election might not be palatable for the governor.
“With this new
political climate change in Ekiti, things might be tough for him; he might not wait
to hand over to his successor before taking to his heel.”
While some said Buhari
might spare him and concentrate more on his coming back to power in 2019, some
political analyst have said that his rule in the state would not go unchecked
by the Fayemi led government.
Some are of the
opinion that the problem he caused Mr. President and his family when he was
battling for his dear life during his stay in a London hospital remains very
fresh.

An APC member said, “The
recent one he did by refusing to meet Mr, President during our Mega rally despite
being served a formal notice of the President’s visit to the state was too much
an affront by a governor to a sitting President. All these and many more might
spell doom for the two time governor of Ekiti state.” He posited.
A PDP member in Apapa Iganmu area in Lagos said, “My advice for Governor
Peter Ayodele Fayose is to run and never look back for some time because APC will
make him see hell. The evidence is obvious; we have seen what our members are
going through since the inception of Buhari’s government. It is obvious they
will come after Fayose once his immunity as a governor is no more.
He did his
best as a lone voice against the ruling party, if the end is coming now, my
advice as a party member is run so that he can live to fight in future. A Yoruba
adage says, ‘Mo ja mo sa la n mo akikanju loju ogun, akikanju to ba moja ti ko
mosa, tiru won ba ku soju ogun, won kii loriyin) what this simply means is a warrior
must learn how to retreat when the war is tough so that he can live to fight
another war. A warrior who refuses to retreat might end up dead and become
unable to fight no more.”
