The chairperson of the Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA) in Kebbi State, Mrs Farida Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim has led wives of officers of customs to plant 100 trees at the Kebbi command.
While speaking during the tree planting exercise at the customs command in Birnin kebbi, she said the exercise was in line with COWA’s Green Initiative and commitment to environmental sustainability in the country.
Mrs Matawalle said COWA is undertaking a powerful initiative to plant 1,000 trees across the country and they are proud to contribute by planting 100 trees in kebbi command.
She added that COWA in its support to the command has also donated 12 large dustbins.to promote proper waste disposal and recycling, especially for plastic waste. "We are donating watering containers to assist in nurturing the trees planted today and beyond", she said.
The command's COWA chairperson added that they are not just planting trees, they are planting hope, sustainability, and a healthier future for the environment and the nation.
"I would like to specially recognize our able President, Mrs. Kikelomo Adeniyi, whose leadership and vision continue to drive this impactful initiative across the nation", she said.
She also commended the Comptroller of Kebbi Command for his immense support and cooperation in making the tree planting initiative by COWA exercise a success.
The Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim in his remarks, pledged the command's support for COWA to meet its targets and goals. He commended the customs officers wives association for the tree planting initiative.
