A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Olufemi Onireti, has announced his resignation from the party, citing the outcome of personal reflection.
Onireti, a former House of Representatives candidate, made his decision known in a letter addressed to the chairman of PDP Osupa Ward 9 in Ogbomoso North Local Government Area on Thursday.
In the letter, he described his exit as a difficult but necessary decision following what he termed a period of “deep personal reflection.”
“I hereby formally resign my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately,” he stated.
The former lawmaker hopeful noted that his time in the party had been marked by active participation, including his candidacy in the last general election. He acknowledged that the PDP provided him with a platform for political engagement, service, and personal growth.
Despite his departure, Onireti expressed appreciation to party leaders and members for their support throughout his stay.
“I remain grateful for the opportunity to serve and for the relationships and experiences I gained during my time in the party. I wish the party well in its future endeavours,” he added.
His resignation is expected to spark reactions within the Ogbomoso North political landscape, with political observers closely watching for his next move.
