The Academic Staff Union (ASUU) of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero branch (AFUSTA) has threatened to embark on industrial action if the management of the institution failed to meet its demands.

Dr. Musa Isah Fakai and Secretary Dr. Gado Abubakar said the union was displeased with the labour-unfriendly happenings at the university, listing the implementation of promotions, allowances, and salary adjustments, payment of earned academic allowances from 2014–2021,2022–2024 and backlogs of promotion arrears from 2016 -2017-2018-2019-2020 -2021-2022- 2023-2024-and 2025 as part of its demands.
It also added that the institution's authority is yet to implement their annual salary increments from 2020-2021-2022-
2023-2024 – 2025 – 2026 and the ₦35,000 wage award from October 2023 to March 2024
It said despite several appeals to the management of the institution on the plight of the lecturers the authority appeared lacking in the will to resolve them.
"We have shown understanding with the university's Visitor Governor Nasir Idris. but the bureaucratic structures appear to be hindering progress on the implementation of our remuneration package", it said.
It also said that the institution's authority is yet to implement their annual salary increments from 2020-2021-2022-
2023-2024 – 2025 – 2026, non payment of ₦35,000 wage award from October 2023 to March 2024 and the unpaid 35% and 25% salary increment among others.
