The Police Service Commission (PSC) has commenced physical screening for 10,710 candidates of Kebbi origins for placement in the Nigeria Police Force.
The screening exercise which started with the screening of 348 candidates from six local government areas of Zuru, Bunza,Kalgo, Dandi, Argungu
and Danko Wasagu is expected to last for six weeks.
While speaking at the Police Command venue of the exercise in Birnin kebbi, the PSC team leader, Abubakar Waziri Muhammed said the recruitment exercise became necessary in the face of the serious security challenge the country is currently facing and the police needs people that can tackle the challenge.
He said "We are very serious about this, the candidates for this job must be physically fit and sound in health. They must be of good character, possess the passion for the police force job and desire to face the challenge".
PSC team leader added that they are in state to make sure that kebbi gets the best in terms of the candidates that are to be recruited for the police job from its local government areas.
He warned that nobody must offer money to influence the chances of his or her candidates during the screening exercise. He said candidates from every local government of the state would be given equal slots.
The Permanent Secretary, Home Affairs and Internal Security, Kabiru Adamu,
Director Security, in the ministry, Nafi'u Bello and the Permanent Secretary, Local Government Affairs, Hajiya Aisha Muhammad in their separate remarks said Governor Nasir Idris has directed that all necessary screening logistics needed by the candidates from Kebbi State be provided to compliment their efforts during the screening exercise.
They also thanked the governor for providing moral and material support to the candidates, to scale through the screening.
"The Governor has shouldered the responsibility of expenses for logistics and other accessories of the candidates, required for the screening exercise",
"We are here with the hope that non of the candidates will be disqualified, they'll all triumph at the screening, God's willing", the home affairs permanent secretary said.
