The Ogun State Police Command has announced the assumption of duty of its newly appointed Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, following his deployment by the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu.
Ojajuni, a native of Ondo State born on April 3, 1970, joined the Nigeria Police Force in 1996 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police. He holds degrees in History Education and Law, as well as a Master’s in International Relations and Strategic Studies, and is currently pursuing a PhD.
With about three decades of service, the new police boss brings extensive experience spanning operations, investigations, administration, and international policing. He is widely regarded for his professionalism, integrity, and commitment to community policing.
Before his latest appointment, Ojajuni served as Commissioner of Police at the Nigeria National Central Bureau of INTERPOL in Lagos, where he led efforts against transnational crime. He also previously served as Deputy Commissioner of Police at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Ogun State and as Principal Staff Officer III to the Inspector-General of Police between 2017 and 2019.
His career includes key roles such as Area Commander of Area “A” Command, Lion Building, Lagos, where he was named Area Commander of the Year in 2021, and Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos State Command. He also served twice as Divisional Police Officer at Bode Thomas Division, Surulere.
Ojajuni has held several command positions within the Mobile Police Force across Lagos, Delta, and Ogun states, and also served in Adamawa State, including Mubi. His experience further covers roles in anti-fraud operations, petroleum task force leadership, and border patrol command in Oyo State.
On the international stage, Ojajuni is a member of the INTERPOL African Committee, having been elected at the 27th INTERPOL African Regional Conference in Cape Town in 2025. He has represented Nigeria at global security events, including the ECOWAS Security Summit in Lomé and the 93rd INTERPOL General Assembly in Marrakech.
He has undergone specialised training in several countries, including the United States, Singapore, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates, and has participated in professional courses at INTERPOL headquarters in Lyon. He has also facilitated the repatriation of high-profile fugitives to countries such as China.
In March 2026, IGP Disu appointed him Secretary of the Steering Committee on the Establishment of State Police, with the committee’s report already submitted to the Senate.
A decorated officer, Ojajuni has received multiple awards, including the African Nations Builders Award and recognitions from the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria. He is also a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
The Ogun State Police Command expressed confidence in his leadership, noting his dedication to professionalism, accountability, and effective service delivery.
