Ward Chairmen from Ibadan South-West Local Government Area have thrown their weight behind the 2027 governorship ambition of Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK), describing him as “a bridge between the grassroots and the global stage.”
The endorsement was made at a strategic meeting held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, where the local leaders unanimously pledged their support for the Oyo-born technocrat and politician.
In their remarks, the Chairmen commended Dr. Kareem for his continuous engagement with Oyo State indigenes in the diaspora and his efforts in promoting both the state and the All Progressives Congress (APC) across the Western world. They also lauded his numerous developmental initiatives in Ibadan South-West, including educational support programmes, healthcare outreach, youth empowerment projects, and welfare interventions for families in need.
According to the group, AKK’s track record reflects a deep-rooted commitment to grassroots development and genuine concern for the people, making him a credible choice to lead Oyo State.
Responding to the endorsement, Dr. Kareem expressed profound appreciation for the support and confidence reposed in him. He used the opportunity to commend the President for his ongoing national development efforts, referencing his recent visit to the United Kingdom as a testament to his respect for leadership and party unity.
Representatives of the AKK Campaign Team — including Hon. Sunday Ademoroti (Director of Special Duties), Hon. Hammed AbdulSalaam (Oyo South Senatorial Leader), and Hon. Aderemi Kazeem Onibudo (former Ward 6 Councillorship Candidate) — also appreciated the Chairmen for their unwavering loyalty and solidarity.
They disclosed that Dr. Kareem is expected back in Nigeria by December 2025 to begin a statewide consultation tour and a series of town hall meetings across Oyo’s 33 local government areas, as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots participation and inclusive governance.
The meeting ended with prayers for AKK’s success and renewed pledges of unity among party stakeholders ahead of the 2027 elections.
