In a powerful and emotionally charged gathering, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (popularly known as AKK), a leading gubernatorial aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Nigeria, officially launched his vision for the 2027 elections during a Town Hall Meeting, Book Launch, and Fundraising event held in Bermondsey, London.

Addressing a packed hall of Nigerian professionals, community leaders, and dignitaries from across the UK, Europe, and beyond, Dr. Kareem described the occasion as more than a campaign event — calling it "a movement founded on unity, service, and hope."

 “Today is not just about me — it is about us. It is about our shared vision for a greater Oyo State, a stronger Nigeria, and a brighter future for our children,” said Kareem in his opening remarks. “By gathering here today, you have demonstrated belief in that vision — and I do not take your presence for granted.”

The evening featured a vibrant roll call of key stakeholders and supporters who have helped propel the AKK 2027 vision, particularly within the Nigerian diaspora.

Top among the honourees was Accountant Abdul Maroof Olagboyega (Saymore), who was commended as the initiator and main sponsor of the London event, handling everything from venue logistics to media production. Kareem praised him as “more than a friend; a brother indeed.”

Others acknowledged included: Mrs. Anjola Olagboyega, for her behind-the-scenes hospitality;

Alhaja Bilikisu Savage, for her steadfast participation in the UK AKK movement;

And a wide array of AKK Stakeholders from the UK and Australia, whose grassroots mobilization has played a critical role in the campaign's diaspora engagement strategy.

The event was attended by an impressive list of traditional and political figures, both in-person and by representation. Chairmen and chairpersons of the day included:

Dr. Tunde Doherty, APC UK Chairman, Hon. Adebayo Amusat Gbenla, Oyo State APC UK Chairman.

Alhaji Dauda Kolapo, Asiwaju Adeen of Wabillahi Taofeeq Islamic Mission Worldwide

Alhaja Mulikat Bello Jeboda and Alhaja Khadijatu Adamson, among others

Also present were key representatives of Nigerian associations from the UK and Germany, Islamic societies, and cultural organisations, underlining the broad support Kareem’s campaign has garnered across religious, cultural, and political lines in the diaspora.

In his address, Kareem reflected on his longstanding contributions to education, youth empowerment, and social welfare — citing his founding of Boiling Point International Schools, Attaofeequ Billahi International School, and AB Farm, among other initiatives.

He emphasized that his philanthropy long preceded his political aspirations and remains a deep personal calling, not a publicity stunt.

 “My philanthropy is not a campaign tool — it is a lifelong commitment,” he said. “I believe in lifting others up.”

Kareem also spoke of the significance of being honoured by the League of Imams and Alfas in Oyo State with the title “Fakhar Soliheen of Oyo State” (The Pride of the Righteous) — an honour he said comes with a moral responsibility to lead with integrity and fairness.

Dr. Kareem used the event to formally announce his candidacy for the 2027 Oyo State gubernatorial election, pledging to lead with transparency, inclusivity, and innovation.

 “Leadership should be transparent, inclusive, and innovation-driven — leadership that listens, unites, and delivers,” he declared.

The night also saw the unveiling of a new book encapsulating the AKK vision, and a successful fundraising drive to support campaign activities ahead of the 2027 elections.

Dr. Kareem concluded the night with a message of unity and collective destiny:

 “From Ibadan to London, from London to the world — Aseyori ni tiwa. Our success is certain, by the grace of God.”

Amid chants of campaign slogans like “AKK 2027: A Task That Must Be Done”, the event ended on a high note, with guests affirming their commitment to Kareem’s gubernatorial vision and the broader goal of a progressive, prosperous Oyo State.
