In a major show of diaspora support ahead of the 2027 Oyo State governorship election, Nigerians in the United Kingdom and Germany are set to host a town hall meeting, fundraising event, and book launch in honour of All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial aspirant, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem, popularly known as AKK.
The event, which is expected to draw a large turnout of Oyo State indigenes and supporters, will take place on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Firm Hall, Harris Academy, Bermondsey, 55 Southwark Park Road, London SE16 3TZ, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Chief Launcher of the event, Mr. Abdul Maroof Olagboyega, widely known as Saymore, announced the gathering and extended an open invitation to Nigerians in the diaspora—particularly Yorubas, Ibadan indigenes, and sons and daughters of Oyo State—to participate in what he described as a “rare and historic opportunity” to engage directly with the aspirant.
According to the organisers, the event will feature:
A town hall session for open dialogue on governance and development;
A fundraising drive in support of Dr. Kareem’s 2027 gubernatorial ambition;
And the official launch of Dr. Kareem’s new book, “Our Realistic Tomorrow.”
“This event is open to everybody. It is a chance to meet Dr. AKK one-on-one, share your ideas on leadership, and contribute to shaping the future of Oyo State,” Saymore said.
In addition to the political and intellectual discussions, the evening will also include cultural performances, music, and a variety of traditional cuisine, highlighting the rich heritage of the Oyo diaspora community.
The event is being closely watched by political observers, as it signals increasing momentum behind Dr. Kareem’s candidacy ahead of the APC primaries. His supporters believe the London gathering will serve as a rallying point for mobilising international support and financial backing.
Saymore concluded by urging all Nigerians in the UK, Germany, and across Europe to attend the event in solidarity with Dr. AKK’s vision.
“We call on Nigerians and friends of Oyo State in the United Kingdom and Germany to come one, come all, and make this a memorable gathering,” he said.
The event is part of a broader outreach strategy by Dr. Kareem, as he continues to position himself as a key contender in the race for Agodi Government House in 2027.
