2,450 gets Saudi Arabia's rice, other food items in kebbi

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has donated over 2000 bags of rice and other food items comprising of beans, Masa Vita flour, tomato paste, Maggi cubes, groundnut oil and salt to 2450 vulnerable in Kebbi State.


Governor Nasir Idris flagged off the distribution exercise at the Government Warehouse, Bulasa, near Birnin Kebbi, this Wednesday.


The Governor, represented by his deputy Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida extended the goodwill of the government and people of Kebbi to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.


He said his administration is deeply grateful for the support of the Kingdom to the people of Kebbi State. "This is not the first time the Kingdom is coming to our aid, we appreciate the good relationship between us", he said. 


He added that Kebbi is thankful for the intervention of the King Salman Humanitarian & Relief Centre, for bringing succour to people of the state.


In her remarks, the Director General of NEMA, Hajiya Zubaida Umar, said the food items distributed through the Agency, was to lessen the difficulty of persons impacted by natural and human induced disasters.


She said "This is the 2,450 food basket distribution flag off for Kebbi beneficiaries who have been identified and profiled by NEMA".
