KIESEC fixes Kebbi LG election for 31 of August

Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC) has fixed 31st of August 2004 for the conduct of the state's local government elections.

While briefing journalists after the meeting KESIEC executives held with heads of security agencies, stakeholders and representatives of political parties, the commissioner in charge of information and communication, Muhammadu Kaura Dan Hakimi said the date for the election to fill the vacancy of local government chairmen and councilors was fixed for 31 of August after deliberating with the stakeholders and representatives of political parties in the state.

He said "kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission (KESIEC) in discharging the powers comferred on it by the relevant laws, wishes to fix conduct of the local government election for 31 of August, 2004".

He added that nomination forms, contacts and all other relevant documents in relation with the election are to be made through the secreteriat of the commission in Birnin Kebbi to enable political parties, stakeholders and the general public commence necessary preparation for the election. 

"The commission, therefore, solicits for the support and co-operation of stakeholders and general public for the conduct of free, fair, credible and acceptable local government election in the state", he said.
