PDP Scores Gov Idris Low on Performance, Says APC Failed Kebbi People

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday said it took an overview of the first one year of the All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration in kebbi State and concluded that the party came empty-handed, without any clear developmental direction or strategic plan for short, medium, and long term to guide governance in the state.

The opposition party at a press conference jointly addressed by its Public Relations Officer, Garba Liman and Publicity Chairman for the last general elections, Alhaji Sani Dododo said despite the huge amount of money the administration is getting from various sources, such as the monthly statutory federation account allocation, Committee FAAC, Palliatives Support Fund, Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), International Grants and other interventions running into hundreds of billions of Naira in the last one year, there is no tangible record of performance on the ground that is commensurate with the amount of money it has collected.

It said "following a critical look at the sectoral performance within the period under review, PDP is dissapointed with the poor record of performance by the APC-led 

administration in Kebbi State.

"As a critical stakeholder in leadership and governance in the state, it is on record that the Kebbi State Government has received over N97,181,578,760. 81K (Ninety-seven billion, one hundred and eighty-one million, five hundred and seventy-eight thousand, seven hundred and sixty Naira eighty-one 

Kobo Only) from FAAC (OAGF 2024), 

"N5 billion worth of palliatives, and in 2023 over N9 Billion from internally generated revenue (IGR) (NBS 2023), in addition to 

hundreds of millions from development partners.

"Similarly, the 21 local government councils have so far received a combined sum of 

N77,950,692,202.63K (seventy-seven billion, nine hundred and fifty million, six hundred and ninety-two thousand, two hundred and two Naira, sixty-three Kobo Only)from from May 2023 to May 2024 (OAGF 2024)", the PDP said.

It added that the PDP is displeased with the style of governance of the party, especially around the ongoing flamboyant spending by the State Governor and some political office holders in the state. 

The opposition party stated that in a rural state such as Kebbi with so many lack and lags manifesting as inadequate and poor quality of drinking water in towns and villages, low literacy level, poor hygiene, environmental challenges, rising unemployment, and destitution, poor healthcare indices, nonavailability of qualified manpower at local and state levels, poor quality of schools infrastructural facilities, and high prevalence of poverty, among others, the government still choose to embark on an unprecedented expensive lifestyle capable of drying off the coffers of the state.

It also bemoaned the government for backlog of teachers promotions and entitlements, primary and post primary schools inadequate furniture and teaching aids saying the state students WAEC, NECO, and UTME examinations are currently placed at a disturbing position at the national ranking.

"The State University is still battling with

inadequacy of qualified manpower,  State Polytechnic still cannot offer courses that have national accreditation, at the College of Nursing Sciences, indigenous students are no longer receiving study allowances", the party said.
