Kebbi Gov's wife calls for stiffer punishment on gender violence

The Wife of Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Idris has called on government and legislators to promogate law that would prrescribed stiffer purnishment to cultprits of gender violence, particularly on rapists.


Hajiya Idris during a press briefing to commemorate the International Women's Day at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi said her office is working with Non governmental organisations in the state to pressure the state government and legislators to promogate the law


The Governor's wife also enjoined women to stop advertising their bodies in the social media. She urged them to use it to advertise their products rather than their beauty.


She said "women have come of age, they excel in every human endeavors. We should be seen as being a pride to humanity".

Hajiya Nasare said "My office is concern about the girl child education, sponsoring of girl child to school is part my programme and it will continue to bringing back out of school girl child back to school", she said.


She added that thousand of women were empowered with skills and funds across the state for them to become self employed. She assured more empowerment for women in the state.
