Insecurity:Southwest Security Group vows to secure Yoruba land

South West Security Stakeholders Group(SSSG)has restated its commitment to secure Yoruba land saying the group will not allow kidnappers to take over the region.

The south west security outfits also urged the six governors of the region to support initiative that is aimed at addressing the security scourge in the region, insisting that

 the group is ready to salvage the spate of insecurity in Yoruba land.

In a statement made available to the media shortly after the meeting with leadership of the 15 security outfits in Ikeja,Lagos,SSSG publicity secretary,Ireti Adewole said there was urgent need to restore peace and tranquility across the region.

"The meeting held today is part of the ongoing efforts of the South West Security Stakeholders Group (SSSG) to ensure that Yoruba land is safe.

"We are not resting on our oars.We  

are determined to rid Yoruba land of  kidnappers and bandits.

"The crux of our meeting is to set the agenda for securing the south west region from those uncivilized elements that are ravaging Yoruba land and  making life unbearable for our kinsmen.

"The struggle is about creating the needed synergy to combat the spate of  insecurity.It is about using the best approach to keep all the stakeholders on their toes.We are ready to keep marauders at bay and we will not fold our arms to allow evil men to overrun our region".

Adewole, however,appreciated the Ooni of Ife,Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi for convening the Yoruba security summit in Ile-Ife, adding that the efforts of the foremost monarch would go a long way in combating the twin menace of kidnapping and banditry in the south west.

He pointed out also that the efforts of the Aareonakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Abiodun Ige Adams, who is also the convener of SSSG had paid off with the summit.

"As far as we are concerned,the progress made so far in nipping the rising insecurity in the bud in the south west is yielding results.

"With the huge attendance of over 200 monarchs across Yoruba land, the Ooni of Ife did a good job by sponsoring the security summit and we are beginning to  see the results.

" I believe many more security outfits will be coming on board to  salvage Yorubaland". Adewole posited.
