The coalition of Kebbi, Niger, Zamfara communities at the weekend lamented over the hardship and insecurity the N19bn Zuru/Koko federal road is causing farmers, market traders and motorists since the project was abandoned.
The N19bn Zuru/Koko road was started by the federal government during the immediate past administration of Abubakar Atiku Bagudu but was abandoned midway into it's completion by the works ministry.
The Zuru community, while lamenting about their anguish occasioned by the bad state of the road, urged the federal government to order the works ministry handling the road project to hand it over to Kebbi State government if the hardship its causing them must be resolved.
The Chairman of the Coalition for Kebbi, Zamfara and Niger state development, Sahabi Musa Sami while briefing journalists on the Zuru /Koko road project said the delay in completing the roads is causing an untold hardship to farmers,traders and motorists coming or going out of Zuru for their daily business activities.
He said people of the communities affected by the road project are in support of the request made to the federal government by Governor Nasiru Idris of Kebbi State that the project be handed over to the state for its quick completion.
He added that the road has constituted serious insecurity, hindrances to economic and social activities of the people in the area for many years.
"The road is almost in motorable. Our traders and farmers have always find it difficult to move their goods and farm produce in and out of Zuru because of the bad nature of the road", he said.
