The new Police Commissioner in Kebbi State, Chris Aimionowane has lauded journalists over the support they have been given the police to fight crime in the state.
The CP during a courtesy visit to the secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kebbi State Chapter said "I'm here to let you know there is a new commissioner of police in the state.
"Journalists are stakeholders in the fight against crime in the society. Police cannot do their work effectively without the press.
"I want you to assist me and work with me to achieve my objectives in Kebbi State".
The CP said journalists are stakeholders in the fight against crime and for the police to succeed in its fight against criminal elements in the society, the press must be involved.
In his response, the state NUJ chairman, Malam Garba Muhammed Yeldu said Kebbi is one of the relatively peaceful states in the country. He added that the NUJ has been working with the police and cooperating with it to carry out its duties in the state.
"As we had supported your predecessors, we are ready to support you as the new CP in Kebbi State to fight crime", he said
