Community leaders in Kebbi State have called on rich individuals and associations to partner with KECHEMA and register more vulnerable in the communities for KECHES program.
This is coming as the leadership of the NURTW in Zuru, Ribah and Sakaba registered 73 of its vulnerable members and windows of late members for the KECHES program.
In a similar vein, in charge of Rikoto and Danko PHCs, in Kebbi South area of the state, Hajiya Jumai Maidawa and Habiba Ibrahim said they have registered 178 and 40 people respectively for the program in their respective health facilities just as some PHCs in the communities visited said they registered people for KECHES though few in numbers.
While speaking to journalists during a media tour facilitated by KECHEMA to assess the implementation of its program in parts of the state, NURTW chairman in areas of Zuru, Ribah, and Sakaba, Yakubu Garba Diri said the union had offered several voluntary services to the PHC in Rikoto. He said the union registered 73 of its workers and widows of late members for the KECHES program as part of its partnering efforts with KECHEMA on its intervention in the healthcare delivery in the state.
Diri promised that more of its members would still be registered for the program while urging individuals who are yet to register for the program to do so and enjoy its benefits. He also called on rich individuals and other associations in the community to partner KECHEMA and register more people for the program.
The WDC of Rikoto PHC, Alhaji Ibrahim Turaki while speaking to journalists on the success of the program in his community said before the take-off of the program he and other members of the ward development committee met with religious, community leaders, and other associations leadership to mobilize their people for KECHES.
He added that so far 40 people have registered and more are expected to offer themselves for the program. "We always spend everything we get from KECHEMA to procure drugs. We cannot afford to tell our patients we don't have drugs whenever they need it and we always make sure we get original drugs for them", he said.
