Kebbi Govt boosts Hisbah operation with N100m donation

Kebbi State Government has announced a donation of N100m to boost Hisbah's operation in the state.


Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu while announcing the donation at the 20th anniversary of Hisbah in Kebbi State and N120m appeal fund raising event in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday said Hisbah since it's institunalization in the state has performed creditable well and has as well lived up to it's essence by tacking the various social issues and crimes in the state.


He commented the shariah enforcement police on its fight against drug addiction and other anomalies in the state noting that if cases of addiction are left unattended to it is  bound to increase the level of crime in the society.



He enjoined Hisbah to remain focused and keep to it's mandates as enshrined in the shariah. He assured the shariah agency of government support at all times to carryout it's  duties.


While giving account of the achievements of Hisbah in the last 20 years of it's creation in the state,  Commander, Hisbah in Kebbi State, Suleiman Muhammad said the shariah enforcement agency has recorded and resolved over 8,000 cases bothering on  brothels and shelter houses for prostitutes,  hotels and open beer parlours, casino and gambling sites and cinema houses.



He said Hisbah was able to achieve all these because it enjoined the support and cooperation of government, traditional rulers, Islamic scholars, legislators, judicial officials, security agencies, general public and members of the Muslim community in the state.


The shariah agency during it's funding raising generated over N130m from government and notable individuals who made contributions to boost it's operations. 


Apart from the N100m donation announced by Governor Bagudu, Minister of Justice, Abubakar Chika Malami who was the

Chief launchers also donated N5m while other personalities like Nasiru Idris, APC Governorship Candidate in Kebbi and Dr Suleiman Abubakar Fana, state assembly candidate of APC made substantive donation for Hisbah. Other donors included Alhaji Musa Yaro Enabo and Alhaji Ibrahim Bagudu.
