It was praises galore as Kebbi State Ministry of Information energetic, super permanent secretary, Garba Hamisu bows out after a meritorious service to the state.
At the Medical and Health Workers Union Auditorium venue of the sent forth ceremony organized by the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Birnin Kebbi for Hamisu, friends, colleagues, civil servants and top government functionaries took turns to elougise the revered permanent secretary in Kebbi State.
While speaking at the sent forth ceremony, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Babale Umar Yauri described Hamisu as energetic, committed and hardworking individual who always discharged his assigned duties with perfection.
The SSG said "I know he is a performer, he will be recommended for a role in this government. I cannot survive on my job without him. He is the reason why I get reappointed for second term by this government".
Earlier, the State Head of Service, Bena who was almost in tears said the retiring permanent secretary of the state ministry of information will be missed by the ministry and the Cabinet Office.
He said "Many of us particularly me, as Head Of Service will miss Garba. He is of immense assistance to me and my office. I feel like crying,. I hope he will oblige me whenever I need his service", the Acting Head of Service said.
Also friends and classmates like Joel Aiki and others gave glowing narratives of the permanent secretary and concluded that they were happy his dedication, hardwork and commitment which dated back to his school days paid off for him.
In his response, the retiring permanent secretary said "I feel highly honoured to hear all the good things said about me.
"The only one thing I will miss is the gathering of elders at the gate of the Ministry of Information. We would gather there to gist and encourage people to come to work.
"We thank God that our efforts to put Kebbi TV, Kebbi Radio on the right track paid off. Today we are on Facebook, YouTube and for other transformation that has happened there I thank God," he said.
He seeks forgiveness from those he might have wronged in the discharge of his duties saying it was not personal but for them to achieve their life ambition and overall objective of the ministry.
He appreciated his wife for what he described as her sacrifice and dedication while he was busy with responsibilities given to him by the ministry. He also thanked the SSG for believing in him and as well given him the opportunity to excel on his assigned duties while thanking the NUJ for honouring him with the sent forth ceremony.
Hamisu had served Kebbi State Ministry of information in every capacity to become the only individual who had risen from the lower cadre of the ministry to serve twice as press secretary to the military administrations.He also held other prominent positions such as Director of Information before his retirement as permanent secretary. He is the first chairman of the NUJ in Kebbi State.
