No fewer than 1,300 people with various eye ailments are expected to benefit from the free eye treatment being offered by Nasara Initiative for Women and Youth Development in collaboration with Tulsi Chanrai Foundation in Kebbi State.
Board Chairman of the foundation, Usman Abubakar during the flagging off of the program at Kebbi Medical Center in Kalgo area of the state said 1,300 people across the 21 local government areas of the state with eye ailments and cannot afford treatment would benefit from the programme.
He enjoined those with eye ailments in parts of the state to ensure they are registered for the free eye treatment being offered by the foundation.
Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, represented by the Secretary to the Government, Babale Umar Yauri, acknowledged the contribution of the foundation to the development of the state. He said the various emporwement initiatives and free medical services undertaking by the foundation will go along way towards assisting the less privileges in the state.
He called on other organisations and wealthy individuals in the state to emulate the foundation by supporting the less privileges to access free medical out reach particularly in the rural communities.
The Governor also called on politicians seeking for any position in the state to emulate the foundation and support their people from the nooks and crannies of the state .
Founder of the foundation and wife of the Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi state, Hajiya Zainab Nasiru Idris, said this was the second phase of the medical outreach by the foundation with about 1,113 people who had already benefited across the state.
The founder who was represented by the board chairman said the programme is free and therefore urged the beneficiaries to abide by the conditions placed on them after the treatment.
The Programme Manager, Tulsi Chanrai Foundation, Chandrakant Deshpande said the free eye treatment registration would last for four days during which patients will be examined and recommendation will be for either surgery, eye glass or drugs for a patient.
