Kebbi SUBEB Tasks Technical Officers, Education Secretaries On Project Monitoring, Execution

Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has urged it's Technical Officers and Education Secretaries to be more vigilant and insist on the bill of quality as prescribed by the board while dealing with contractors handling the various SUBEB project works in the 21 local government areas of the state.


While addressing the technical officers, education secretaries and chairmen of the local government education authorities during an interactive session on the 2021 Federal Government UBE matching grant projects implementation in Birnin Kebbi, SUBEB Chairman, Professor Suliaman Khalid urged them to be more vigilant and ensure strict compliance to the board's prescribed standard on projects in their respective local government areas.



Professor Khalid emphasized that government will not compromise on poor quality of projects furniture and equipment insisting that people of Kebbi must get value for their money.


He said no state in the country has matched Kebbi State on SUBEB project standard. "You are doing very well and we are proud of you. The ability to execute multiple assignments is the quality of our personnel in the teaching sector", he said.


The SUBEB Chairman  said the state government has invested huge resources in the education sector for conducive learning environment for it's teeming students.



He added that the state government had constructed 3,782 classrooms within seven years while the construction of 3 additional schools have been approved by government in Nayelwa, Gungun Kuka and Nalba in Argungu, Dandi and Suru local government areas of the state as requested by the communities. He said 290 primary schools had also been renovated and rehabilitated in the state.


He said "I urged you to put your eyes,your ears on SUBEB projects in your localities and ensure they are properly handled in accordance with the prescribed standard.


"Kebbi SUBEB has no abandoned projects since 1999 to date because it has sustainability frame work".


Earlier, Head of  Physical Planning Unit, Engineer Shehu Umar warned the state technical officers and education secretaries to take their jobs with all seriousness and avoid getting into trouble on projects monitoring and execution as they would be held responsible for any lapses.


In another development, UNICEF has supported the state SUBEB with educational materials for 400 primary schools in the state.


Some of the educational materials delivered to the board chairman by UNICEF included computers,first aid boxes, spoons, vests, note books.
