17 Years of Emir Bashir Reign Brought Honour, Progress to Gwandu Emirate, Kebbi - DG GEDA

The Director-General of Gwandu  Emirate Development Association (GEDA) and Commissioner for Works, Kebbi State Ministry of Works, Alhaji Abubakar Chika Ladan has said the 17 years of Emir Gwandu, Alhaji Illiyasu Bashir on the throne has brought honor, peace and progress not only to Gwandu Emirate but the entire kebbi State.

The GEDA Director-General during a low keyed celebration of the 17 years reign of Emir Bashir on the throne, held at the Emir's palace in Birnin Kebbi at the weekend said the reign of Emir Bashir who is second in the hierarchy of Sokoto Caliphate and third in the hierarchy of northern Nigeria's emirate has also brought tremendous achievement to sons and daughters of the emirate and state.

" Many Gwandu sons and daughters have achieved successes in their chosen careers. Many of them held important positions in governments at the state and federal levels.

"Gwandu Emirate equally recorded great achievement since he was crowned as emir. GEDA has also grown beyond imagination and has achieved great success in its school program. 

"The students did well in WAEC  and NECO and GEDA Secondary School recorded 100 percent performance because of the advice and contributions of the emir."

Emir Gwandu: in his response said he wouldn't say much than to thank God for giving him and the people of his emirate the opportunity to go this far and achieve the successes they have recorded in the past 17 years of his reign.

"We thank the sons and daughters of this emirate for their contributions and those who stood with us to achieve this success". 

He thanked the Emir of Yauri and other personalities whom he said stood with the emirate. He enjoyed the people of the emirate and other kebbi communities living in peace and harmony with one another as peace is the key to the development and growth of any human society.  

Earlier in his remarks, Commissioner for local government and chieftaincy affairs, Hassan Muhammed Shala Gwandu thanked God for the peaceful reign of the emir since he ascended the throne 17 years ago. He said the emir took his subjects like his children and he is always advising and guiding them along the right path.

"Whenever we are going wrong the emir will advise and correct us. May Allah rewards him because his advice and contributions have brought peace and progress to Gwandu Emirate and kebbi state in general", he said.
