It was a day of joy and jubilation for Honourable S. O. B. Agunbiade, as he has clinched the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest the 2023 general elections as representative of the Ikorodu Constituency 1, in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
The incumbent lawmaker got the highest number of votes in the House of Assembly Primary elections of APC, held in on Friday, May 27.
The elections, which was keenly contested by six other contestants, saw Agunbiade becoming victorious with 38 votes of the delegates.
His closest rival, Gafara Bolowotan, came a distant second with 16 votes. Bolaji Isikalu got only one vote, while Samson Bisiriyu, Ogbara Omowunmi, Gbolahan Ogunleye, Eniola Adeyemi a.k.a. Wake Up, each had nil. The total valid votes was 55.
In his acceptance speech and message at the event which took place at Ikorodu West Local Government Secretariat in Ikorodu axis of the state, Agunbiade thanked the delegates for their unflinching support and trust, and promised to give more representation of the people of the constituency. He also pledged to use his office to attract more developmental projects to the area, if eventually voted into the assembly in 2023.
Honourable Agunbiade, a ranking 4-term lawmaker in the assembly, would now have to slug it out with other contestants from rival political parties in the incoming general elections.
