Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has sworn- in the newly elected council chairmen and their deputies in the 21 local governments areas of the state.
He urged them to be dedicated, hard-working, honest, and be fair to all in their respective local government areas even as he reminded the new officials to take their entire local governments as their constituencies.
'' You should also know that your elections were divinely ordained and not because of your individual victories. The oath of office has just elevated you from the realm of your respective political parties to the realm of leadership.
'' You should also study your oath of office and seek the support of all your loved ones in order to succeed in the discharge of your arduous responsibilities, he admonished them.
He said they must work for the benefit of all, irrespective of their political leanings, and listen to the voices of everybody, including those who elected them and their opponents. He cited the example of President Muhammadu Buhari who according to him contested 3 times before he won the election in 2015.
"Despite our religious teachings, people of the state have continued to elect women into political offices. 16 women are elected as councilors", he said
The governor charged the elected Chairmen to also do more to better the lives of youths and the physically challenged in order to better their lives.
He commended the Kebbi State Independent Electoral Commission ( KESIEC) , security personnel, the media, and political parties as well as the electorates for the peaceful conduct of the election across the state.
