Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State has called on supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to vote massively for the party to ensure its victory in the council election slated for 5, February.
The governor during the party flag-off campaign for the local government election in Kamba, Dandi local government area of the state said there was a need for those who were aggrieved to forget whatever wrong is done to them and return to the party for its victory in the election.
The governor averred that the APC ideology was based on justice, peace, unity, and equity. He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for sustaining the efforts to restore lasting peace in the state and other parts of the country.
While presenting APC flags to candidates of the party in the local government election, he urged them to seek diligent reconciliation among all the aggrieved members of the party. Bagudu reminded the flag bearers of the party that they were chosen on merit, but not because they were more powerful than other aspirants.
He warned that"Upon election, you should carry everybody along and strive to provide more dividends of democracy to the people of the state."
He also directed the contestants and other party members to embark on a fence-mending mission towards reinstalling unity among APC supporters in the state.
"I have forgiven those who have been throwing insults at me for whatever reasons", he said.
Also speaking, the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami while, acknowledging the mammoth crowd at the campaign venue said the large turnout of supporters has shown that APC under governor Bagudu in Kebbi state was still intact, united, and strong.
He said that the party was blessed and he was proud to have a leader with dexterity like Bagudu. He called on the people to positively reciprocate by coming out en-mass and voting for APC candidates during the polls.
In his speech, the Chief of Staff, Government House, Birnin Kebbi, Alhaji Suleiman Argungu said that APC was still united despite the thinking by some of its opponents that there is a crisis in the party. He called for renewed confidence in the party as it has recorded a myriad of successes at all sectors of the state economy, particularly agriculture and industry.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Kebbi state APC Chairman, Abubakar Muhammad Kana Zuru affirmed that Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu remained the recognized bonafide leader of the APC in Kebbi State.
