EFCC AFTER TINUBU, Could This Work Against His Presidential Bid?

It is no longer a secret, that the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), recently revealed that the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, is currently being investigated by the anti-graft agency. Since the report emerged, many Nigerians have continued to react differently to it. Recall that for a while now, some Nigerians have continued to petition the EFCC, demanding that the former Governor of Lagos state be investigated.
With the report of Bola Tinubu’s ongoing investigation by the EFCC, many Nigerians have begun to ask themselves whether this could be the end to the APC National Leader’s rumoured 2023 presidential ambition. It should be recalled that in recent times, rumours have continued to make rounds about an alleged interest of the former Governor of Lagos state, to contest for the number one office in the country. His campaign posters have equally been sighted at different locations in recent times, suggesting that there could be elements of truth in the rumours.
Despite this, Bola Tinubu is yet to officially declare that he would be contesting the 2023 presidential election. As such, the alleged interest remains a rumour. With millions of Nigerians expecting the former Governor of Lagos state, to officially declare his 2023 presidential ambitions in the coming days, we may once again ask ourselves whether the ongoing investigation by the EFCC, could be the end to his rumoured 2023 presidential ambition. In my view, the answer to this question is a No.
The reason for my answer to the above question is that an investigation could exonerates him of allegations levelled against him. You will agree with me that investigation is just to look at some of the issues raised, and determine whether he erred or not. Therefore, when we hear that someone is being investigated by the anti-graft agency, we should not misinterpret it to be the same as someone who has been convicted. With this in mind, I believe that there are chances that the ongoing EFCC’s investigation of Bola Tinubu, would find nothing against him. As such, cannot be said to be the end to his rumoured 2023 presidential ambitions.
