AYINLA OMOWURA, Tunde Kelani new movie to hit cinema

The ace filmmaker and producer, Tunde Kelani, has announced on his social media page that his long awaited cinema movie, AYINLA OMOWURA is set to hit Nigerian cinemas, June 18.

The movie, which was shot in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital narrated the story of the Apala legend’s rise to fame and his tragic end.

Its production began December 2020 with actor, Adedimeji Lateef cast in the lead role. The movie also featured Omawumi Dada, Bimbo Manuel, Kunle Afolayan, Debo Macaroni and Ade Laoye., among others. It is co-produced by Jade Osiberu’s Greoh Studios.

No doubt, works of the late Ayinla Omowura are one of the best sellers among Nigeria’s evergreen music artists both dead and alive.

The Abeokuta, Ogun State-born musician’s career took root in the early 1950s, when he started with a brand of music labelled Olalomi which was popular and became the anthem of the young people both in Nigeria and the West coast.

His musical career later took a new dimension when he joined EMI Nigeria, now Ivory Music, in 1970 and recorded a single titled ‘Aja to foju d ejo’ in June of that year.

The late legend, had since maintained rhythmic success stories, to the extent that he was overwhelmed such that he became an idol to the masses back then.
