She is a bunch of talents, an entertainer, a footballer, table tennis player and a paragon of beauty. Oluwafunmilayo Edwin a.k.a Ayanbinrin has done so well for herself in art of entertainment, sports and in her words she said, I am here to make a difference.
Entertaining people with taking drum despite being a graduate with sophisticated beauty, Oluwafunmilayo Edwin a.k.a Ayanbinrin said her passion for the profession made her see joy in what she does.
Her sojourn in the
entertainment industry is about five years ago with the mindset of taking after
the popular talking drummer, Aralola Olamuyiwa, a top female talking drummer.
Ayanbinrin said, “I chose to become a female talking drummer
because it’s a talent I discovered I have gotten right from childhood, though in my family, there is traces of such profession amongst my progenitors. I could remember very well that I started this journey with a drum known as Akuba, that was when I was in secondary school and it’s a talent no one taught me. I didn’t train under anybody but my grandpa had different set of drums at home. He had a special place where he kept his drums because he was a good drummer. Seeing those drums then drew me into it and it’s something I have
taken up as a means of survival today. It was passion initially and now, I am a big time talking drummer many have come to reckon with awards.”
Ayanbinrin added that another aspect she could do well too is acting which she intends going into coupled with her vast talent in drums.
The Igbotako, Ondo born talking drummer said, “I have taken
interest in some other musical instrument like Omele Bata, Talking drum, Iya Ilu and now I am working on keyboard and guitar.”
With her talents in musical instrument, Oluwafunmilayo has
played severally as a lead talking drummer behind a lead vocal in church and at different occasions.
The Public Admin graduate from Kwara State Polytechnic explained that she now has her own musical band with the name Funmi Gangan Acrobatic Entertainment.
Besides entertainment, Funmi is also into sports, a captain of the team and a very good footballer while in secondary school. Also, she said she was a good player too when it comes to table tennis and she did represent her secondary school well during her days in school. Looking forward to the future, Ayanbinrin said, “I have always long to play with Tope Alabi, I can’t wait to display my talents while she sings, I wish to exercise my God-given talent while she sings.
A society once awarded her the post of an ambassador having won a competition organized by the group in Akure, Ondo state few weeks back.
Funmi Gangan said, “The award has really challenged me to do more and I have taken it upon myself to work more and get corporate branding.
Funmi Gangan as she is well known now said her projection in another five years is to take her talents to far and near while promoting African culture throughout the globe.
