The community leaders in the ancient town of Ipokia have called for the intervention of their ancestors in restoring peace to the land.
In a separate events during the annual Ololu and Oro festivals in the town, Ololu Chief Akintunde Arolu Asabi and Chief Waliu Elerinti and Chief Segun Adeosun have jointly called on their ancestors to come and reign supreme in their land. They noted that the situation in Ipokia now is worrisome as no significant process is been noticed for now. They opined that they are sure the ancestors too are not happy and they will restore peace and progress to the town through the enthronement of the right candidate for the stool of Onipokia. It will be recalled that several law suits have been instituted by the various interest against the wrongful selection of a non indigene as the Onipokia of Ipokia.
Meanwhile, the
court proceedings on the Onipokia of Ipokia in Ipokia local government area of
Ogun State has hits brick wall, following the absence of Justice Sikiru Owodunni,
who is the presiding Judge.
We gathered that the ongoing case was instituted by the Iwaye Dodo ruling house
against the selection of a non indigene of the town as the Oba of Ipokia.
It will be
recalled that the Oteni Botemole Royal family of Iwaye Dodo ruling house had
sued the Ogun state government, and
Ipokia kingmakers for the wrongful selection of one Yinusa Olaniyan, a non
indigene and non member of Iwaye Dodo ruling house as the Onipokia of Ipokia.
A situation, which has generated uproar among the indigenes and the residents of the ancient town. The case was last adjourned to Tuesday 29th March , 2021.
Surprised about
the judge absence, the Counsel to the
plaintiff, Barrister Timehin, declined further comments on the matter.
Also, the state counsel shy away from interview on the delay in proceedings due to the absence of the judge.
