Mr. Macaroni, Debo Adedayo arrested over Lekki protest in Lagos

Nigerian comedian, Debo Adedayo, a.k a Mr Macaroni, has been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State police command over the ongoing #OccupyLekkiTollGate protest.

The protest was planned to kick against the decision of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry allowing the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) to reopen the Lekki toll gate.

On Saturday, Debo was arrested after the police told him,We don’t want you here”.

In a Live Instagram feed before his phone and those of other arrested protesters were seized, the comedian lamented that “Lekki is under military rule.”

“I’m being arrested. I’m being arrested ooo Nigerians you can see,” he said in a mixture of English and Pidgin in one of the video clips.

“So they are collecting our phones right now. We are not fighting them,” he said in another clip, before his phone was seized.
