Saidi Balogun, top Nigerian actor says, social media is here to make life better for productive actors

Saidi Balogun, a versatile actor has reiterated that social media has come to play an important role
s in the lives of many actors.

Omo Alhaja as he is fondly called back then said, “Many actors out there would have taken up some other things if not for the advent of social media. Today we have gotten different platforms to showcase our skills without any hindrance or barricade. Let’s thank the intervention of social media, cinemas and other  platforms like Netflix, Amazon and many others.

“Now, every serious actor who knows his onion can shoot his or her movie and put it on any social media handles and make big money. If you have a platform with good numbers of followers, then you are in money, because putting your skit or full movies on Youtube or any of your personal social media handles would be greeted with good number of viewers that are already waiting for good Contents, thus making you smile to the bank.”

Balogun stressed further that DSTV that could have served as saving grace for Content providers too has a whole lot of contents waiting for preview and this does not help producer’s hard earned income to come back.

He said, “There are times you would have to wait for as long as possible waiting for your Content to be passed but the waiting may not yield at times. But today, life is better and it's up to every meaningful Producer to come up with good Content and make life better for himself.

"Sincerely speaking, we have gotten a wonderful profession, but we were faced with so many difficulties including the system we operate here in Nigeria that does not frown at piracy. This has contributed to so many going bankrupt. Now, the situation is better and for every productive producer sky is the limit. Today, once an actor has a social media handles that has over one million followers or more, such actor with his or her good content would do fine and advertisers too would come begging to have their stuff show-case on such thriving platform. This and many more are what we are enjoying today and the story has been a great one for everybody."

In his bid to serve his fans better, he said, "I just shot a film, cinema standard meant for online. We were in location for two weeks. It was an English movie, studded with stars like Shaffy Bello, Wole Ojo, Jibola Dabo, Ayo Adesanya, Allwell Ademola; Samuel Olasehinde; Macaroni, Arole and a host of others including students from my drama school.

"It was an opportunity for them because they played lead role in the movie and it was a plus for them to have featured in the movie. Another movie is Master P, that I featured alongside Okele, Mama No Network, Olaiya Igwe, Abibat Junaid, Dende Lawori, Ajirebi, Odun Adekola, Wale Elesho, Bimbo Akintola, officer Gaji, Funky Mallam, Jude Orhora, and my children. The movie had so many great actors that are well established comedians.”

Saidi Balogun also added that it was a pleasure to see his children dloing well in the industry today, he said, “The tittle of the first Movie (English) is ONLINE and on MASTER P, my children and other children of some great Legends played good roles. We have Jamal, Zinat and Khalid Balogun, they are my children, also we have Temilade Kosoko (Jide kosoko's daughter),  Samuel Olashinde, Ajirebi's  son, who is also the AD on the job and so many others.

Also one of my students at Saidi Balogun Productions HOUSE OF TALENT (HOT) Abidemi Adisa just produced OTA . We have another movie titled TANI produced by my students at House of Talents.

To encourage my students, I have always given them the opportunity to play lead roles so that we can have a legacy that will live forever.

“We are grateful to God for the opportunity of being there and still doing great, my Youtube channel, SaidibalogunTV.” is there, we have been doing well and we plan to do more.” He concluded.
