AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Kwara State Governor, on Friday has intervened the lingering crisis within the state branch of the All Progressives Congress and reaffirmed Bashir Bolarinwa as the state party chairman.
We gathered
that an attempt was made on Thursday evening at a stakeholders’ meeting of the
party held at Kwara Hotel to remove Bolarinwa as the state party chairman.
It was learnt that while the meeting was on, a party
chieftain from Oko Ward, Irepodun Local Government Area, was recognised to make
a presentation. He however read from a written paper a motion that Bolarinwa
should be suspended as the party chairman.
However, he had hardly finished his motion when he was
reportedly mobbed and dispossessed of the leaflets and pushed out of the
meeting venue. Notwithstanding the commotion
at the meeting, AbdulRazaq, in a statement, appealed for calm among the party
members and urged them to embrace dialogue in resolving the crisis.
The statement was released by Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press
Secretary to the governor.
