STATE GOVERNOR, SHAARE COMMUNITY MOURN AS OLUPAKO JOINS HIS ANCESTORS *ABDUL FATAI HAMED DESCRIBES KING AS AN ICON OF PEACE

People of Shaare community in Ifelodun local government of Kwara State are in mourning mood as their King, Oba Abubakar Garuba Dosunmu answered the call of his Creator earlier today.

All business activities were put on hold immediately the news of the king’s demise filtered into the Community.

There was mourning everywhere and the maternal home of the Late Royal Highness (Ile Adegbokun) was busy with hunter's gunshots and different elegies.
The Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has commiserated with the people of Share town and the entire state over the passing of the Olupako of Share Oba Garba Abubakar Dosunmu II, a First Class monarch.

In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor in his words said,  “I commiserate with the people of Share and the entire state, including the Kwara State Traditional Council, over the death of His Royal Highness. I pray to the Almighty God to repose his soul and give fortitude to the large family he left behind. I especially commiserate with His Excellency former Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed and other prominent sons and daughters of Share on this development,”

Describing him as a progressive leader, AbdulRazaq said the monarch’s long reign was characterized by monumental growth and investments in the town which is the headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

“The monarch would also, be remembered for enhancing the status of the Olupako Stool as it was during his reign that it was upgraded to First Class. This is a testimony to his leadership qualities and good relationship with not just his subjects but other parts of the state and government institutions,” the statement added.

Former Governor of Kwara State, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed in his words has described the death of the Olupako of Shaare, Oba Abubakar Garba as a sad and painful loss.

In a condolence message following the monarch’s demise on Saturday, Alhaji Ahmed said as a son of Share, he enjoyed a close relationship with Alhaji Garba who always provided him with guidance and prayers.

Alhaji Ahmed described late Olupako as a bridge-builder and icon of peace who preached and worked for a harmonious relationship between Share and other communities in the state.

Alhaji Ahmed, in the statement by his spokesperson, Dr. Muyideen Akorede, therefore commiserated with all sons and daughters of  Shareland over the first-class traditional ruler’s death and urged them to be consoled by the fact that the late Olupako lived a pious and fulfilled life.

The former Governor said Alhaji Garba will be remembered for his relentless commitment to the development of Share Community which came to fruition during his lifetime as well as his tireless devotion to building bridges of peace between Shaare and it’s neighbouring communities.

Born in 1938, Oba Dosunmu ascended the throne on the 10th March 1967; making him one of the longest-serving monarchs in the state.
