"Barrack Obama;
George Weah and Emmanuel Macron, did not just wake up in the morning to start
running after the presidency of their countries.
They first participated and
contested at lower levels of politics and governments to work as politicians,
law makers and government officials at different levels, before building enough
political clout, experience and national prominence to contest to be the
presidents of their countries.
But, in Nigeria, some
young guys just woke up in the morning and want to be the Obama of the US; Weah
of Liberia and Macron of France in Nigeria, without any prove of their
capabilities, experience and national political clout to handle it.
To be the president of
Nigeria and to run the Northern and the Southern parts of Nigeria as the president, is not a tee party
job for the kids; the political green horns and people, who cannot be known,
accepted and endorsed across the Niger bridge in Nigeria.

Where I expect someone
like Fela Durotoye; Omoyele Sowore and co. to start from, is to first of all,
seek to represent their people as lawmakers in their respective states or
national assemblies, just the way Desmond Elliot and co., have done, but not just
waking up in the morning like the kindergarten school boys to say they want to
challenge a heavy weight like President Buhari just like that to become the
president of Nigeria.
The character and
nature of the Nigeria's political system is too peculiar, dynamic and complex
than how the Fela, Sowore, Moghalu, Kassim and co. think it is.
You want to become the
president of Nigeria - But, if you are known and accepted in the South, does
the North know you? Does the North also want you?! Does the North accept and
endorse you?!
If the South is
shouting your name for the job, is the North also doing that?! Are you the one
the North also wants?

That is the 1 million
dollar question Fela, Sowore and co.
must continue to ask themselves, before February 16, when they are going to be
testing the popularity and acceptance of their immature and unrealistic candidature
at the polls.
If it is not so for
Obama in the US; George Weah in Liberia and Macron in France straight away like
that, then someone cannot just wake up in the morning in Nigeria and feels he
is the next president of Nigeria, when he has not built enough socio-political
clout and prominence for it across the Niger in Nigeria.
The question is; where
is the ability and capability experience; political clout; national social
prominence and character maturity to
contest to be the president of Nigeria and successfully run Nigeria in any of
these new generational presidential aspirant guys, standing to wrestle power from
Mr. President in the forth coming general elections in Nigeria?!
Where?!
Fela Durotoye as a
motivational speaker and Omoyele Sowore as a former student union president and
astute media practitioner that I know, would always be good to motivate robust
and impactful lawmaking engagements, processes and debates on the floor of the
national assembly first as lawmakers in Nigeria, but not just waking up in the
morning and singing, they must run Nigeria as her president at all costs in the
2019 elections.
Where is the
experience?!
Where is the national
clout?!
Where is the national
character?!
Where is the national
capability?!
