To put paid to a Facebook post
in circulation by one Shoyinka Olatunbosun Da-Silva JP, accusing Wale Salawe of
working against the successful emergence of the APC gubernatorial aspirant in
Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the former has been taken to court.
In a statement made available
to us, Wale Salawe has debunked the claim that he is working against the
candidature of Mr. Babajide Sanwo-olu, while he has thrown his support for
People’s Democratic Party in the state. He has reiterated that he remains a
loyal party member with no affiliation to PDP or any political party whatsoever
as published on a Facebook page by Shoyinka Olatunbosun Da-Silva.
He stressed further that, “I
want to state here categorically that there is no atom of truth in the
statement published by Shoyinka. It is a political blackmail and fallacy to set us back in our progressive party in Lagos.
"I am a loyal and committed
member of our great party- APC, and I believe in the party supremacy, which I
have displayed on several occasions. I am committed to Jide Sanwolu’s cause,
vis-a-vis other candidates of our great party (APC) from President, Senate,
House of Representatives to State Assembly.
“So in order not to drag myself
in the mud with the pig, I have taken a legal action through my lawyer on
Shoyinka to this effect; and I will ensure that the Law takes its cause to
serve as a lesson to other agents of evil. I remain a Loyal and Committed
member of APC.”
Meanwhile, in a letter written
to Shoyinka Olatubosun Da Silva by a legal chamber, A.Olumide Lapite Chambers
acting on behalf of Wale Salawe, part of the letter read thus; “We hereby urge you to immediately withdraw the article within 24 hours of the receipt of this
letter and also tender an unreserved apology through the same medium of
communication as well as a personal letter of apology to our client.
“We also demand the sum of N10,
000,000 (Ten Million naira) as damages from you for the libelous article.”
