Akinwunmi Ambode, the incumbent governor of Lagos state; Babajide Sanwo-olu and Obafemi Hamzat will slug it out on
Saturday 29th September, 2018 in a party primary on who will stand as the flag bearer
for the party in 2019.
This was said by the leaders of the party at a news
conference earlier today stating that the political party has concluded its
plan to have its governorship primary in Lagos on Saturday, this weekend.
According to Yomi Finnih, a chieftain of All Progressive
Congress, he said, “There shall be a primary, where the three candidates that
have signified interest to contest for the Lagos gubernatorial election in 2019
shall slug it out. We want to create a level playing ground for everybody, let
them come and test their popularity, and whoever emerges shall be the flag
bearer of our great party.”
He stressed further that the party structure does not want
to go into imposition of any candidate; rather, party members would have the
opportunity to choose through votes the candidate of their choice for the
incoming general election in 2019.
