Yinka Ayefele |
At about 6am today 19th August, people of
Ibadan especially those living in the Challenge area of the largest city woke
up to a demolished multi million naira edifice of the veteran musician.
Different reactions were seen at the venue of
the event, while some were cursing the state government for carrying out such
humiliation against the physically challenged musician, some couldn’t control themselves
as they cried and wailed uncontrollably.
While this was going on, Yinka Ayefele has
reacted to the incident; he begged those that were sympathizing with him to remain
calm while he explained how the whole thing started.
Arulogun, the alleged man behind his predicament |
Ayefele in his words said, his trouble
started with the state government when the radio station did a program on the
state of the abattoir in the state. He said, “They said we were against them, I
am not a politician; objectivity of the profession is what our people practice
here. I want to thank the state government for its support and the height it
has taken me to in the course of ruining a multi million naira project I did
for myself and for the benefit of the society. Also I will like to appreciate Toye
Arulogun the commissioner for information, he started this fight and I believed
he has achieved his goal by pulling this edifice down. I want to tell my people
to remain calm, in a situation like this; I always submit everything to God; He
has another surprise for me.”
Fresh FM, an Ibadan-based radio station owned
by veteran musician, Yinka Ayefele, was demolished.

The demolition
exercise began a few minutes past 6’o clock in the early hours of Sunday. The
location of the station has been a subject of controversy in recent times, with
the management of the station and the Oyo State Government locked in a war of
words. The government had warned that it would take down the building.
Earlier, reports said Mr Ayefele has taken
the matter to court, alleging political victimization. But on Sunday; we gathered
that the demolition exercise began.
Up till now, the state government has kept
mute while different reactions continue to trail the incident that befell FRESH
