Nojeem Korodo, as he addresses participants |
Korodo, one of the special guests at the on-going three days
trade fair and empowerment program organized by YEFADOT National Mobile Market and
Lagos state ministry of commerce and industry made this call at the venue.
In his reaction to the theme of the event, Agbe l’Oba
(Farmers are King) he said, “Agbe l’Oba, I can say it is a continuation of APC
led government program on the resuscitation of Agriculture practices in Nigeria.
When APC came, Nigerians were made to understand that we must diversify our
economy. Total reliance on oil cannot do us any good but rather it could
cripple our economy. I am a stakeholder in the oil and gas sector, but despite
that, I have taken the decision to go fully into Agric. I am well known as
Korodo Elepo (Korodo oil merchant) but right now I want to be called and addressed
as Korodo the farmer. There is hope and a better tomorrow in farming. The type I
want to go into is mechanized farming in large scale.
“The era of sufficient white collar job is no more; our
people have to take their destiny in their hands. I have gone through the
program of AGBE L’OBA, I am impressed and the best we could do for ourselves now
is to go into farming, let us diversify our economy so that we can have lots to
eat. Once there is food to eat and to export, our currency will regain its strength
and we shall be out of this economic quagmire. He said

The former NUPENG Chairman has also advised Nigerian youths
to cease the opportunity available now and go fully into Agric. He said. ”As we
called on our youths, government too should create an enabling environment for
them by organizing empowerment programs that can make them self-reliance; so
that amongst the youths we can have job creators and a better future leader.”
In her opening remark as she flags off the 3 days program, Chief
Mrs. Yetunde Babajide, the President, YEFADOT group of companies said, “Our aim
is to strengthen the economy by empowering our people. With the support of
Lagos state government, we have been able to organize different seminars and
also empower our people including housewives and children. Now children are in
holiday, leaving them to wander about will do no good that’s why we asked mothers
to come with their children so that they too could learn one or two things. A
lot is happening these days, there was an eighteen years old girl who claimed
she has killed 4 persons, by the time this girl attain the age of 40 years; God
knows how many lives she would have wasted.
We parents need to be very close to our children, that is why we have
arranged a special skill programs for them as well.
Another speaker at
the event, Mr. Kuti George in his address lauded Yefadot and advised
participants to form a cooperative group that will facilitate a means of
helping one another. He said, “If one person decides to move, such person can
only move faster but can never go far, but if you move in group, you would go
far and better. What I meant in essence is; coming together to form a group
would make Agriculture practice easier. If an individual gets a tractor and
another person in the group got harvester, this will aid the farming and in no
time, there would be enough to live on and surplus to make ends meet.”
