The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called on Islamic organisations and other groups across Nigeria to honour Alhaji Rafiu Adisa Ebiti for his contributions to education, philanthropy and the socio-economic development of the Muslim community.
The organisation made the call on Thursday, October 22, 2026, following the conferment of an honorary doctorate degree on Ebiti and his appointment as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Crescent University, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
In a statement issued by its Founder and Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, MURIC described Ebiti, who is also the Deputy President I of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), as a prominent philanthropist and influential figure within the Muslim community in Yorubaland.
The honours were conferred during Crescent University's 18th convocation ceremony, held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at the Bola Ajibola Auditorium. In addition to his appointment as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Ebiti received an Honorary Doctor of Science (DSc) in Business Administration in recognition of his contributions to education, philanthropy and institutional development.
MURIC congratulated Ebiti on the appointment and honorary degree, while also commending Crescent University for recognising his contributions.
According to the organisation, Ebiti's leadership is characterised by practical action, commitment to youth empowerment and concern for the welfare of the wider Muslim community.
The group said he had consistently supported Muslim youths and devoted his leadership influence to initiatives intended to address socio-economic challenges confronting the Ummah, particularly young people.
MURIC further described Ebiti as a humanitarian and pragmatic Muslim leader who prioritises practical solutions over complaints, adding that his philanthropic activities have made a significant impact on the Muslim community in South-West Nigeria.
The statement noted that Ebiti considers the challenges facing the Ummah a collective responsibility and has continued to contribute to efforts aimed at improving the welfare of its members.
Describing him as a key figure in the strategic development of the Muslim community, MURIC said his contributions deserved recognition from Islamic organisations and other groups that value integrity, sacrifice and responsible leadership.
The organisation also stressed that its commendation was based on what it described as years of observing Ebiti's activities and contributions, rather than mere flattery.
“Rafiu Ebiti truly deserves encomiums and awards from all,” MURIC declared.
The statement concluded with renewed congratulations to Ebiti and Crescent University on the appointment, honorary degree and successful hosting of the institution's 18th convocation ceremony.
