The Commissioner of Information and Culture Kebbi state, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK has provided solar powered street lights and anti-Mosquito chemical spray to his Rafin Atiku Ta Gabas neighborhood in Birnin Kebbi.
The ceremony to flag off the erection of the street lights to streets requiring lighting to ward off criminal activities as well as the chemical spray was conducted Saturday in the neighborhood.
Speaking at the event, the Village Head of Rafin Atiku Ta Gabas, Alhaji Hamza Ahmed BK explained that the gesture by the Commissioner followed observation that the area needed the provision of both street lights and anti mosquito chemical spray due to security concerns and the need for mosquitoe free environment. He noted that the commissioner decided to come to the aid of his own community in view of the importance he attaches to communal harmony and security of the neighborhood.
He called on the people of the area to guide against vandalization of the poles and the lighting systems and to also ensure strict hygiene of the neighborhood as it is the only way towards cleanliness for a mosquito free environment.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Rafin Atiku Ta Gabas Community Development Association, Malam Abubakar Umar Mai’akwai who is also a senior lecturer at the Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi emphasized the need for community cohesion and unity to improve security, a sense of communal solidarity and development.
He thanked the Commissioner for the gesture and assured him that efforts would continue to be made to mobilize the people to give emphasis on security and cooperation with relevant government agencies to ensure improvement in the quality of lives of all.
In a message sent to the occasion, Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK thanked Alhaji Sama’ila Mabo who is a stalwart of the APC in for the positive roles he has always played in providing support and encouragement in all endeavors that have to do with helping communities. He noted that Alhaji Mabo had been instrumental in reaching out to advise and support efforts at making life easier for the people.
He expressed gratitude to the Governor of Kebbi state, Dr Nasir Idris for his endless support to him at all times and for encouraging all those holding political and public offices to ensure that they give back to the people they live with. He assured the Governor that all his lieutenants and foot soldiers would continue to emulate him by making contributions to improve the living conditions of the people.
Rafin Atiku Ta Gabas in Birnin Kebbi, is one of the safest areas of the state capital on account of the excellent leadership qualities of its Village Head Alhaji Hamza Ahmed BK who had been able to mobilize the community in self help and community resilience.
His anti crime strategies which co-opted the youth of the neighborhood in intelligence and policing efforts has made the area crime free since the appointment of the Ward Head.
