The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) has formally commenced operations and graduated 100 specialized mechatronics at the training and CNG Conversion Centre in Birnin kebbi, Kebbi State.
While speaking at the commissioning and graduation ceremony of specialized mechatronics trained for the repairs and maintenance of petrol and CNG tricycles and motorcycles at the Birnin kebbi automotive and CNG training centre, the Minister of State for Trade and Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh said 22 training centres across the country were built and equipped with state of the art equipment to achieve the federal government's commitment to human capital development and youth empowerment in the country through the automotive industry.
He said the vision of the NADDC is to position Nigeria as one of the leading automotive manufacturing nations in the world and create an enabling environment for the manufacturing of Nigeria made vehicles of international standard at completive prices using local, human and material resource.
He said the NADDC centres would provide competitiveness for Nigeria automotive industry and provide necessary technical training and maintenance in kebbi State and the north west region as it would support training for the emerging innovation in the automotive industry.
He added that the new automotive and CNG centre in kebbi was created to equip the youth and trainee with necessary technical skills and support needed for the automotive industry development.
The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the NADDC, Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin said the centre was designed to provide necessary skills, manpower and technical training infrastructure and support for the automotive industry in the state and country.
He said "the centre was created to strength the country's automotive industry with skills, maintenance, repairs and other emerging automotive innovation and as well as supporting the local vehicles and boost agriculture and human capital development in the state and country".
He added that the success of the initiative is a confirmation of collaboration between kebbi State Government and the Federal Government for the overall development of the country's automotive industry.
Governor Nasir Idris who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida while commending the initiative said the centre will create more employment for the teeming youth in the state and as well support it's automotive sector in.manpower development.
He urged the federal government to consider creating CNG centres and has stations in the state saying his administration is ready to partner government in every aspect of the initiative.
